Yoast is an SEO tool that stays on top of best practices to improve search rankings. They are constantly testing current and new practices to optimize SEO strategies.
On the 24th, Yoast Project Manager Marieke van de Rakt revealed in her article that Google has shortened the meta tag description from 320 characters back to the original 155 characters. Longer description tags will be cut off with an ellipsis (...) at the character limit. This means long descriptions could have vital information that drives clicks cut off if they exceed that limit!
Yoast's next version update will account for these changes, but currently the program still shows the old 322 character count.
